Intensive Business English for Managers and Professionals is intended for those who do not have English as their first language but need to use it for business and professional communication. The aim is to give the course participants a good grounding in writing and speaking style, which they can  apply to any situation. In fact, the Intensive Business English for Managers and Professionals is designed specifically for managers and professionals who want to improve their English skills as rapidly as possible, focussing their course on speaking and writing, and using English in a business and professional environment.
  

1.    The General Objectives
To develop the course participants’ ability to:
·          use English with confidence in the office
·          take part in international meetings
·          hold informal and social conversations with international counterparts
·          speak on the telephone and participate in conference calls with ease
·          give powerful presentations
·          write clear and accurate business reports, resumes, letters and emails
·          improve  professional and business English vocabulary
2.           The Course outline.

The Intensive Business English Course  for Managers and Professionals includes the following:

·   interactive and applied fluency practice to encourage the course participants to express their opinions and ideas clearly and with confidence, integrating new vocabulary and idiomatic phrases, and incorporating more sophisticated and complex language structures.

· listening and reading practice to improve course participants’ understanding of business documents, and oral presentations on business and general topics.

·   revision of any grammar points which require attention to improve the use of the language.

·  increasing the range of vocabulary related to business and social situations, and  developing the participants’ ability to socialise in multicultural environments.

· role-plays are used in the lessons to simulate a wide variety of business situations such as presentations, negotiations, telephone calls and international meetings.

During the course the participants are always encouraged to actively express their ideas and opinions as they would in the office.
3.           The Classroom lessons

Skills developed: speaking, listening, writing, and reading comprehension, and business communication skills. To make it condusive to oral communication acquisition, the English teacher tries to reduce theoretical explanations to a minimum, in order to encourage the participants to actively participate in the learning and practice process. For example, a group  lesson  could  include  a  debate on common business interests while an individual lesson could focus on a job interview role-play or  the  analysis of an industry-specific article. Case studies give the participants the opportunity to work on different projects together with other participants. By researching, discussing and working as a group, all of the course participants’ language skills are used and developed.
 4.           The Subjects.

The lessons are designed and integrated in three subjects as follows:

·              Oral Communication

The objectives:     To provide the course participants with the opportunity to learn interpersonal business communication skills for conversation, studies, discussions, exams, interviews, presentations, debates, meetings, negotiations, traveling etc. They will learn how to communicate in English with confidence.

·              Reading and Vocabulary.

The objectives: To provide the course participants with the opportunity to  develop  their  business   English   vocabulary   and           reading comprehension through guided reading of authentic materials, business reports, business contract documents, business letters, business magazines, news papers, manuals, and other articles on current topics etc.

·              Writing and Grammatical Review.

The objectives: To provide the course participants with the opportunity to learn to write business English with clear and accurate sentences,  paragraphs, letters, faxes, memos, resumes and reports  and  organize  their  ideas  according  to business English writing styles and use appropriate formats. They will also practice English Grammar and sentence structure.

5.           The  Results achieved.

At the start of the course  the participants’ language profile is evaluated for the main basic skills. We then determine their course objectives and create a study plan to achieve them. This means we do not waste time relearning language skills the participants already have, and on average they will increase the level of their English by every 2 weeks. Please note that the higher the participats’ starting level, the more time is required for each level.

6.           The Course Levels and Participants.

Group and individual courses are available at all levels from beginner to advanced. The class may range from 6  to 10 participants.

7.           Starting Dates and Course Duration.

The course consists of 24 sessions (48 hours), and each session lasts 2 hours; The class can be started every week on Monday, and lasts about 3 months. The participants can start an individual course in any week, and group courses are programmed regularly during the entire year.

8.           The Venue.
The courses can be held at offices as  in house training or in residence as private lessons. 

9.           The Budgeting and Terms of Payment

The tuition together with the instructional materials costs Rp.26.500.000,- (note: the VAT is excluded).
The terms of payments are as follows: 50% of the total budget must be paid 2 weeks before the first session, and the rest should be paid 1 week after the fisrt meeting of the midterm sessions

10.        The Eveluation & Assessment System

The performance of the participants will be reported at the end of the course, and it will be based on the daily assessment, attendance and the evaluation format as follows:
